About Dr. Canion
Phylis B. Canion, N.D. C.N.C. has a Bachelors degree in Psychology, a Master's in Nutrition, is a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, is certified in Holistic Nutrition, and is a Certified Nutritional Consultant specializing in nutritional therapies. Dr. Canion is also a Diplomate of the College of Clinical Nutrition.
Dr. Canion has had the great opportunity to live abroad for eighteen years with extensive travel through six of the seven continents. She lived in the West Indies, Africa and Asia. Being able to witness first hand the different nutritional requirements throughout all cultures which has been instrumental in her learning process and very beneficial to her current teachings. Dr. Canion continues to travel the world observing diets and lifestyles.
Dr. Phylis Canion has been awarded Fellow status in the American Association of Integrative Medicine, which is its highest honor and is reserved for those whose knowledge, skill, education, training and experience in their health care specialty exceeds the requirements of the other levels of membership. Members attaining fellow status are committed to ongoing education in their field and maintaining high professional standards of behavior. She has also been asked to serve as an Advisory Board Member for AAIM. The mission of AAIM is to promote the development of integrated medicine, the medicine of the 21st century and is dedicated to scientifically validating and preserving global indigenous therpaies that have stood the test of time.
Dr. Canion has been asked to serve on the Board of Trustees for DeWitt Medical Foundation at Cuero Community Hospital. DeWitt Medical Foundation has raised over two million dollars through public and private support, funding a variety of projects that benefit Cuero Community Hospital.
She has authored 3 books, the first entitled The A, B, C's of Nutrition, a simple guide to the do's and don'ts of eating, her second book entitled Read All About It: Q's and A's of Nutrition, and the third, Read All About It: Volume II, all available at her office and Organic Emporium in Victoria, Texas. She is a syndicated columnist with a weekly nutrition column. Dr. Canion is a guest speaker on nutrition, has written numerous articles for publication in magazines and newspapers and was recently featured in the Healthy Living Magazine.
Phylis is a wife of thirty-one years and enjoys each and every day with her husband, life partner and best friend. The Lord's plan was laid out early for Phylis as she suffered life changing medical illness, but she continues to do his work and is passionate about her love of natural medicine and good health.

Author of Three Books
Dr. Canion has authored a book entitled The A, B, C's of Nutrition, which is a simple guide to improving your health. The book takes you through the alphabet listing nutritional information from why it is important to have a balanced ph in your system to why you should not drink milk. Also included are why vitamins and minerals are important, a food combining chart and foods that cause certain symptoms.
Dr. Canion's second book, Read all About It: Q's and A's About Nutrition is a collection of all the weekly articles from her nutrition column from 2009. Read all About It: Q's and A's About Nutrition, Volume II is her most recent achievement, which is the continued collection of her weekly column from all of 2010.
